Exploring the <scp>Anti‐α‐Amylase</scp> Activity of Flavonoid Aglycones in Fabaceae Plant Extracts: A Combined <scp>MALDI‐TOF‐MS</scp> and <scp>LC‐MS</scp> / <scp>MS</scp> Approach

A combination of TLC-bioautography, MALDI-TOF-MS, and LC-MS/MS methods was used to identify flavonoids with anti-α-amylase activity in extracts L. pratensis (herb), polyphillus (fruits), T. lanceolata R. Br. S. japonica (buds). After TLC-autobiography assay, substances anti-amylase were identified by MALDI-TOF-MS followed confirmation the result LC-MS/MS. Results study revealed that apigenin, luteolin, formononetin, genistein, kaempferol display marked activity. Formononetin showed largest Compared LC-MS/MS, is a quick convenient method; results can be obtained within minutes; only minor sample amounts are required which allows us analyze mixtures without preliminary separation. However, inability distinguish between isomers main limitation method.
